There are many positive things about living in a dorm, and here are a few of them.
1. No Parents: Well, technically, there are no parents in a dorm, but there are still RAs. RAs lock the doors and make sure no one burns the place down or does anything else illegal (in the building). But that's about the extent of their worries.
2. New Friends: 5 people on a futon on a Sunday night watching The Hangover until 2 in the morning? Only in the dorm.
3. Doing Really Stupid Stuff: Where else would a group of college kids build a fort out of cardboard boxes in the middle of a lounge?
4. Convenience: Wanna go to the library, get some food, go visit a friend, or walk to class? It will take 10 minutes tops. Plus you get to exercise.
5. Having a Roommate: This can be both positive and negative, but usually we have a good time.
So, now that you have the positives, here are the negatives.
1. Cleaning: My roommate and I are slobs. It is disgusting. I'm sorry if you ever come visit me.
2. Taking Out the Trash: Refer to #1
3. Weekend Starvation: NOTHING on campus is open. God bless Easy Mac.
4. Crappy Internet: It's a miracle if this blog even posts before I get kicked offline.
5. Doing Laundry: Two washers don't have spin cycle. The dryers have to be run twice to even remotely dry clothes, sometimes more, depending on how many pairs of jeans you have. Awesome.
Well, there ya go. Life in a dorm. Not the most glamorous life in the world, but it's still pretty awesome, if I do say so myself. Sorry if I bored you. Peace.
